More Than 20 People Injured In Eyo Festival-Two Reported Dead

The 2017 Eyo festival ended in a bloody
and bizzare moment after two persons
and more than 20 people were injured as
two rival Eyo’s clashed, causing fun
seekers to run for their dare lives at the
Tafawa Balewa Square on Saturday.



Being a cultural event organised by the
Oba of Lagos as a mark of homage to the
Yoruba long existing tradition, the
Agogoro Eyo Festival which pave way for
the four other ‘important’ groups — Laba
(Red), Oniko (yellow), Ologede (Green) and
Agere (Purple) — take their turns inspite
of the heavy rainfall.



The festival which began on a bright note
in th early part of the day later became
tensed due to confrontation amongst the
Eyo groupsz thereby creating an
unpleasant atmosphere that made the
crowd who had come to watch their
masquerade run for safety.



Despite the heavy presence of the security
forces, it didn’t stop some angry
miscreants perpetrate their evil act as they
denied some people their valuable assets,
causing serious panic in the minds of the
little children.
