Police In Katsina State Arrest Mother And Daughter For Allegedly Killing Newborn Baby

The Katsina state police command
have arrested 45-year-old Hassana Sabiu
pictured left for conniving with her
daughter, 25-year-old Qamariya Ismail
(right) to kill her baby which she had out
of wedlock.



According to DailyTrust, the
accused persons were arrested after the
corpse of Qamariya's baby was found
inside a dust bin at Madugu House on
Yahaya Madaki way in the state.




Neighbors
who knew that she was pregnant raised
eyebrows when they saw the corpse of
the baby in their neighborhood.



The state police command’s spokesman,
DSP Isah Gambo, who confirmed the
incident, said the dumped corpse of the
baby was traced to Qamariyya who was
known to pregnant.



When she was
arrested and interrogated, she
confessed that her mother, Hassana, who
knew about her unwanted pregnancy,
helped her in throwing the baby inside
the garbage-can.




The mother, however,
denied any wrongdoing.




According to her,
Qamariya had a still born of a seven-
month child that had to be thrown away.


They are both in police detention and
would soon be charged to court.
