Solid Fighter’ Floyd Mayweather Could Excel In UFC – McGregor

UFC star Conor McGregor believes
unbeaten American boxer Floyd
Mayweather could excel at mixed martial
arts.



Mayweather defeated McGregor in the
1oth round of their boxing rules bout in
Las Vegas on Saturday.



Mayweather is often praised for his
boxing technique and defensive acumen
but after sharing a ring with the 40-year-
old, McGregor believes Mayweather could
successfully
transition from the boxing ring to
the Octagon as he is also “a solid
fighter.”



In an Instagram post , McGregor said
Mayweather is: “Strong in the clinch [with
a] great understanding of frames and
head position. He has some very strong
tools he could bring into an MMA game for
sure.”



McGregor, magnanimous in defeat,
congratulated Mayweather “on a well-
fought match” but conceded it is unlikely
that Mayweather would
compete in mixed martial arts as he has
now retired from competitive sport.



He added: “[He’s] very experienced and
methodical in his work. I wish him well in
retirement. He is a heck of a boxer. His
experience, his
patience, and his endurance won
him this fight hands down.”
