US Approves Nigerian Super Tucano Sales

Nigeria’s plan to acquire Embraer
EMB-314/A-29 Super Tucano took a step
forward on 3 August,
when the US Defense Security Cooperation
Agency (DSCA) announced the State
Department had approved the sale of 12
of the light attack
turboprop aircraft.



The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced
its plan to acquire an unspecified number
of Super
Tucanos from the United States in June
2016, saying it hoped the sale would be
approved in the
near future.



It then announced in February that it
would receive three Super Tucanos from
the Brazilian Air Force.


This claim has not
been
confirmed by Brazilian officials and
Embraer declined to comment when
asked by Jane’s.
