Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode
says his administration is working round
the clock to ensure that Lagos joins the
league of cities in the world with one of
the cleanest environment.
Ambode made this bold statement on
Saturday at a ceremony to mark the
inauguration of Phase 1 of Visions-Cape
Implementation in Lagos, an
environmental utility group which is to
take over waste management in the
state under a Public/Private Partnership
(PPP) arrangement tagged: the Cleaner
Lagos
Initiative (CLI).
Represented by the Commissioner for
Environment, Dr Babatunde Adejare, the
Governor stated that his vision has always
being to create an enviable, friendly and
cleaner environment that will promote the
goal of the state capital.
“We have always believed in
Visions-Cape and by the grace of God,
Lagos is going to be one of the cleanest
cities of the
world’’.
“To carry out a reform is not easy and we
did not want to leave anything to chance,’’
he said.
“This occasion is to make sure our city is
not dirty.
There are about 350 PSP
operators and
we have 25 million Lagosians.
Do we want
to satisfy 350 to the detriment of 25
million people?’’ he asked
