Taxi Hits Pedestrians Near Boston Airport

A taxi has hit several pedestrians near
Boston airport in the US, leaving at least
10 people with injuries, police have said.




The incident happened at a taxi waiting
area at Logan Airport, on the outskirts of
East Boston, Massachusetts.




Police said some of those who have been
injured have been seriously hurt.




The 56-year-old driver remained at the
scene and is being interviewed by police,
officers said.



Massachusetts State Police said the crash
does not appear to have been an
intentional act.




An official said that provisional inquiries
suggested that the crash is believed to be
a case of "operator error" in which the
driver stepped on the accelerator instead
of the brake.



Footage of the scene showed a white taxi
with damage caused to its front end
wedged between a building and some
picnic tables.




Debris lies on the ground
nearby.




Emergency services were seen loading at
least one person on to a stretcher.
